Dr No - Cape 1st edition/1st print (1958) - very rare plain boards and original unclipped DJ
A genuine Cape 1st edition, 1st impression (1958) copy of Dr No, with the very rare plain boards and its original unclipped, first-state dust jacket showing the price 13s. 6d net.
The book is from a private collection – not ex-library – and is in very good condition. The pages are crisp and generally bright throughout. Some foxing to page edges early on, and inside on p32, and a pen inscription with previous owner's name and address on inside front cover. The bottom corners of pages 81-88 have been clipped (see photo).
The spine and binding are completely solid, and the plain black boards are clean. A small bit of rubbing on the rear board.
The original first-state dust jacket is unclipped, clean and solid. It has the rarer black lettering on the spine, which was changed to white for later editions. There is chipping at the bottom of the spine, and damage to the top of the jacket's spine (please see photos) which is why I've priced this much lower than other copies of this title sell for.
